SLMG have now administered the first vaccination to 3000+ patients. This includes Health and Social Care staff and Nursing Home patients and staff. We are currently working through our housebound cohort and aim to complete this by Friday 12th February. We also aim to complete all patients >70 by Monday 15th February.
Next Clinic date
Our next vaccination clinic will be on Saturday 6th February at Kibworth Medical Centre (KMC). We will be vaccinating our 400+ Clinical Extremely Vulnerable cohort in the morning, and a large proportion of our 70-75 age group in the afternoon.
At the moment we are hampered by a very short notification period of when we will receive the vaccine, and this means we do not have time to write-out to patients. We are therefore currently telephoning all eligible patients and inviting them to attend. This takes a large amount of manpower and does mean that we have to take staff away from answering general telephone enquiries. Going forwards, we hope that we will have a longer lead-in time for vaccine delivery, and once this happens we will be putting vaccination appointments on-line for eligible patients to book. It is therefore of paramount importance that all patients who have internet access register for our on-line services. (Please do not worry if you do not have internet access, as we will continue to contact patients directly if eligible). More details can be found on our website.
You may also receive a letter from the National Booking Centre inviting you to book an appointment at one of the mass vaccination centres through a website link or by telephoning 119. These letters do not come from the Practice and the booking process does not allow you to book appointments at one of our local SLMG sites. If you attend one of the mass vaccination centres you will also need to go there for your second vaccination.
We have been advised that second vaccination appointments will take place 11 weeks from the first dose. We will be contacting patients over the next few weeks to book their second vaccination appointment. Please do not contact us in the meantime. We have received a lot of complaints regarding the delay of the second vaccine, but please be aware that this is not of our doing, and we have to follow Government guidance.
As per the JCVI guidance, carers fall into Group 6. If you are a carer, you will need to let us know. The quickest and easiest way to do this is by completing the form on our website. If you do not have internet access, we will be adding an option onto our telephone system whereby you can leave your name and address and we will post a form out to you to complete and return to us. This telephone option will go live w/c 15th February.
