Bridget is responsible for the strategic management and leadership of the practice. She supports the GP Partners and practice team to deliver comprehensive, quality-driven services for our patient population.
Ruth Smith-Canham BA (hons), ISP has special interests in Reception & Appointment Management, Dispensary Management, Health & Safety, Training & Development, Patient Liaison & Complaints, Recruitment and IT.

Christine Buxton is responsible for all Accounts Management and Data Reporting & Analysis.
Patient Services Team
We have a team of experienced receptionists and medical secretaries who deal with appointments, telephone queries and other aspects of using the health centres. They are here to help you, however, please remember they have a busy and sometimes difficult job.
Advanced Nurse Practitioners
We have an Advanced Nurse Practitioner, Stephanie Cowper, who runs a variety of on the day clinics based at Kibworth Medical Centre.
We have nurse practitioners who run Minor Illness clinics for adults and children over the age of 2, dealing with a wide range of acute conditions. When necessary the nurse practitioners can issue a prescription in the same way as a doctor.
We are very pleased to have Lynne Emmingham BSc (Hons), RGN, DN, (Independent Prescriber) working with us as Practice Matron. Lynne is a highly experienced matron who is available to visit our most vulnerable chronically ill elderly patients who are unable to come into the surgery. Lynne is a nurse prescriber and works very closely with the doctors, practice based nurses and the community healthcare team. She runs weekly clinics at Hallaton and Medbourne on Monday afternoons - for an appointment call 0116 279 2422.
Our Practice Nurses run clinics across all our sites. They are fully trained in a broad spectrum of clinical care. In the clinics they carry out blood tests, removal of sutures, dress wounds and ulcers, syringe ears, check blood pressures and offer well persons and lifestyle advice. Clinics are also to help monitor diabetes, hypertension, coronary heart disease and asthma. All clinics are by appointment.
Health Care Assistants
We employ Healthcare Assistants who play a vital role assisting our experienced Nursing Team. Their duties include Blood Tests, New Patient Screening, ECGs, Blood Pressures, Urinalysis, 24 hour Blood Pressure Monitors etc. All clinics are by appointment bookable through reception.
Our Health Visitors provide help and advice with all aspects of children’s health including developmental progress and well baby clinics. They can be contacted at Kibworth Medical Centre (0116 279 1363), The Old School Surgery (0116 279 2356) or Two Shires Surgery (01858 411521).
The Dispensary is based at Kibworth Surgery and Kibworth Medical Centre. Our team comprises of trained dispensers Jo Burrow, Samantha Gardner and Cheryl Littlejones.
The Pharmacy Team is based at Kibworth Surgery and Kibworth Medical Centre and is made up of Renu Sangha, Barinder Singh and Rakhee Solanki.
Our Practice Therapist visits some locations regularly. They provide a comprehensive range of services, such as counselling which can be accessed via any of the Doctors. Please talk to your doctor if you feel you would benefit this.
Attached to our Practice are midwives who run clinics at some locations. If you are pregnant please make an appointment to see the Doctor first, who will commence your antenatal care. Midwives also undertake domiciliary visits. The midwives are employed directly by Leicestershire Partnership Trust as part of the Market Harborough Community Midwifery Team and can be contacted either via one of our Surgeries or directly by leaving a message on 01858 438142.
Our community Physiotherapist provides essential support and treatment for those patients unable to attend out-patients physiotherapy at Market Harborough Hospital.
Your District Nurses are based at Market Harborough District Hospital and can be contacted on 0300 300 0027 or you can contact one of our Surgeries. The District Nurses will visit patients who have been discharged by the hospital and those who are temporarily or permanently housebound. Please note District Nurses organise their own timetables and work independently from Two Shires Medical Practice.
Other Members of the Primary Care Team
South Leicestershire Medical Group is part of the East Leicestershire and Rutland CCG, and in addition to the staff we directly employ, the Practice is supported by medical professionals such as Dieticians and Speech Therapists commissioned by the CCG to work within our surgeries and local community the details of which can be obtained from reception.
